Attended a wedding of a old secondary classmate today at Excelsior Hotel. Have known my classmates for close to 12 years now, am glad that they are one-by-one getting married liao =)

Ok, I had one strange day...

First of all, the strap on my sandal broke when I was walking over to Lau Par Sar to buy packet lunch!!! Aghhh.... I had to walk very weirdly towards Lau Par Sar... Can you imagine my embarrassment? In the end, I bought a rather squeaky pair of sandals for $15 from one of those mini shops in Lau Par Sar. Which of course, I didn't know that it was squeaky as it was very noisy in Lau Par Sar and it was oni until I was walking back with my packed food to offce then I heard the squeaky squeaky sounds of my new sandals. *Slaps my forehead loud~*

Thank god that the sandal that broke was my spare one i had in the office, so I was able to wear the normal low heels. (^_^)

Then you know what, I was working profusely on my laptop in the afternoon when a lady in white walked past me. She made a u-turn, took a kit-kat out from the white plastic bag that she was holding and said that this is for me. I was totally caught by surprise!!! *Woah~*

I stood up, thanked her for the kit-kat and asked what occassion is it? She replied that there was no particular reason and that she juz felt like giving me. (^0^) After that, she walked away. *Wah~*

One of my colleague aka my neighbour, JT then proclaimed "What about me?" and another colleague, GA replied in comment "I also dun have!" in which JT replied "I did showered this mrng!". LOL~ What a joke!

But as I reflect back on it, the kinda lady in white may be trying to encourage me. The TV has been broadcasting a short campaign ad on 加油，新加坡！！where tv artises went round in Raffles Place distributing buttons with the msg "加油，新加坡！！".

And guess what?!? A few days ago, an old secondary classmate IM me and asked how was my day? My reply was that it was horrible coz it didn't went well and he went "加油哦！！" He then explained that this is in conjuction with the new Singapore campaign of encouraging one another. Isn't that nice?

So shalln't we do this? Let's encourage one another onward in this crucial period =)

Oh, I finally rec'd the service recovery $20 dollars voucher from Sakae Sushi via snail mail. They seriously need more lessons on customer service. In reply to my kinda of complaint as per updated status on FB, they offered me $20 voucher for my bad experience I encountered recently. But instead of juz simply putting in the voucher alone in the envelope, shouldn't it come together with a nice short letter detailing that as an way of apology for the bad service encountered, they are complimenting me with $20 voucher? Haiz~

Speaking of food, I've been experimenting with cooking recently. One of my latest craze is egg with melted cheese topped on ham or tuna with cheese slice on top of toasted bread! Here's a pic of my breakie yesterday! (^_^)

Movie - "Overheard"

If I were to go online & start MSN-ing friends in the middle of a movie in the theater, it would have meant that the movie was horrendously boring. And it was exactly what I did earlier on... I wanted to go off but mummy says let's juz sit through to the end.

When the closing credits start to scroll, we went off laughing @ things such as "Can we go home?" & things my mum asked 20mins into the show like "Why no action??"

Worse still, i had to had the worse cheesy pasta combo... The bacon bits piled like a mountain on my top of my pasta were emitting chemical burnt smell. Yikes~

You know what's the best thing?!? My dad had asked my mum earlier the title of the movie and all my mum replied was "I dun know but it's very very nice! Can watch!"

Ya rite! This is the first movie we watched at her recommendation and so, we spent the rest of the night teasing her about it! LOL~

The next best thing:- She got the movie wrong! It was another movie that her friend was recommending. Hiaz~

Slight Disappointment

Juz ordered my Iced Grande Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks.

Q: What would you scoop up when you realise that the cup is full to the brim after pouring in the espresso shots?

A: The barista scooped up the espresso shot instead of the ice.

Q: Is that a cofee now or simply coffee flavoured milk??

*Note: I wasn't interested or keen to get them to re-do the drink simply becoz the bar was messy!! Yikes~

Rider's Cafe

Been reading reviews about Rider's Cafe from all the food blogs and have been wanting to go there for the longest time... So finally with much ado,I organised a small gathering for brunch there...

However sad to say, I didn't manage to made reservations for brunch in time as it was fully packed. Hence, my friends and I were there for lunch at 2pm instead.

Juz a quick note: the place is rather difficult to reach as it is the middle of nowhere - Bukit Timah. It is located at 51 Fairways Drive, next to Bukit Timah Saddle Club accessible via Eng Neo Drive. But I fully think it was worth the trip!

Green pastures surround us and the breeze was light and delightful. It seems to play cheekily ard us. No tall buildings were in sight and you see the blue clear skyline against the outline of the trees. Monkeys play amnongst themselves, swinging from tree to tree. Horses graze lazily in the paddocks, swinging their bushy tail as if time was nvr a issue.

Ooooo~ the place was totally awesome!! You dun feel as if you're in Singapore at all... As Ivy and I were there early, we went round the surroundings taking photos!! Hahahaha... It's so typical for the both of us. *Bleah~*

Lunch was good! I ordered Rider's Burger topped with egg, bacon and cheddar cheese FOC! Ivy and Mavis had the Fish & Chips while Jeremy had beef. However, the buffalo wings were not as good as expected. It was fried a bit too long, hence the meat were dried.

Afterwhich, we lingered ard chatting and best of all, the servers there dun chase you or buzz you if you would like extra food. (^_^)

It was definitely an afternoon well spent! It was relaxing and I had a great time catching up with friends. And best of all, I spent less than $30 to lunch there.

We had a rather small suprise when a mascot in green came around the office this afternoon, with its minders ringing a bell and shouting out "Happy 10th Birthday! And please help yourself to the mini muffins in the pantry!!"

As the mascot came nearer and hug everyone, we realize that it is MSN messenger! Now isn't that a cute muffin? =)

Shape Run Year 2009

Juz for fun! I swear that I shall not answer any calls when I'm asleep. Apparently I had agreed to this when I had picked up a call in my deep slumber.... =p

Overall, it was all fun! Although I did more walking than running coz this is like my first run, I completed the entire 5km in less than an hr! There you have it, a small achievement for me! *grins~*

I love the Nike Braclet that they gave us instead of the usual medal to commemorate that we completed the run! (",)

Really got 2 hand it 2 Jackie... I bought the traditional popiah (the kind with the honeycomb, peanuts) & he actually went 2 dig it out from my bag to munch on it.... Haiz~ Reminds me of the other time when he digged out Rochers out from my bag to eat.... Naughty little rascal!! *shakes head~* but it's things like this that cheers me up.... (^O^) plus the innocent look he gives u when u catch him red-handed... LOL~

Sporty Afternoon~

Had a great afternoon today! Firstly, I went for a full solid hour of badminton games with Ivy, my secondary classmate! Thereafter we headed for an hr plus of swimming next door!

It was awesome! First, a game to sweat it all out then a nice dip in the pool to relax and catch up on girl's chat!

But yieks! Both of us were too eager to go for a dip that we both forgotten to apply on sunblock. I had a obvious suntan and I kinda shriek a bit when we went to wash up in the ladies. Hahahahaha~ It's gonna take some time before we go back to being white. (",)

Thereafter, we headed over to 小旋风 @ Hougang Mall for dim sum! They were having a promo but the food wasn't up to standard. Thank God for the promo, if not it was notally not worth it!

Hey Ivy, I would love to do racket game followed by a dip anytime! Juz let me know when =)

Catch up with Poly Mates!

After several years of missing in action, I finally got a chance to catch up with my poly mates who happened to work in the same building as I am!

I intro them to Bluemist Cafe @ Amara Shopping Centre and they love it! Bluemist Cafe has been my fav. cafe who serves large portions at a very reasonable price. Their set lunches serves garlic bread, soup of the day, choice of main dish and coffee/tea. And compared to any other western places, Bluemist serves two larges pieces of garlic bread per head. So it's very fulfilling.

The best recommendations to chose would be grilled fish and grilled chicken! So do try it out, if you can. (^_^)
It was great catching up with both of you, Peizhen & Sharon! Time really flies, dun they?!?

How should I be reacting when it came to me that she actually went that far to do that??

If it wasn't for the boutique shop owner who requested that I update her on the arrival of the new stocks, I dun think tha I would be thinking about her.

That same night, I went back onto Facebook and tried viewing her account but I was not able to find it. Then it hit me that she had blocked me! Now I really wonder is who stepped on whose toe first??

What I cannot simply fanthom is how these girls can gossip about that person badly behind their backs and yet can be chummy in the front?!? Yes, I may not be as self righteous too as I might comment about my dislikes for that particular person but I dun go to that extent as them.

There are many circles that goes around within this group of friends, I realized. The other day, a friend W came to question me if I had revealed to another person K2 that she was the one who leaked out to me about their areas of discussion on me. Truth be told, I indirectly leaked it out coz I wanted to test how the circles go. The end result was that K2 went to tell to J who indirectly went to share the juicy news to S and K1. Ha!

So let me distinguish the circles now. S and K1 are best buddies who fell out some time back but patch back up. W was their good friend who often hanged out with them. So was J but J was not comfortable with W. So in social calendars that S and K1 organised, you will only see either W or J. K2 is the good buddy of J who often joined them occassionally but she will never appear on outings that S is involved as both of them dun like one another.

What happened was that on a regular meetup between W, S and K1, they were having a pretty good discussion about yours truly me. Sometime later, W accidentally leaked to me a certain portion of the conversation between S and K1. Initiallly, I only kept quiet but I did shared this with my best buddies who told me to ignore them.

Coincidentally, K2 decided one day out of the blue to share with me what J and K1 had been conversing virtually about yours truly me again. Annoyed at how things were going, I decided to play a plot!!

I told K2 that someone in the group had told me that how S and K1 had conversed about me while I went to tell W about the comments in the email sent to me and my slight annoyance at K1. Although, I did not reveal who was the one who let the cat out of the bag but I was pretty sure that they would figure it out. All this was in late March 2009 ah.

Nothing much happened subsequently coz I didn't bother to contact with the circle too frequently as well and I was trying to adjust to the new job. But during a improtu meetup with W in late April, she burst out and questioned me if I had revealed her conversation with me to K2. Of course, I had to ask her why you said that and she told me that K1 had went to question her if she had shared the discussion contents with me.

And the story was that K2 went to tell to J who indirectly went to share the juicy news to S and K1. So K1 was concerned and went to question W about it.

Unknown to W was that I had already knew that on the day that I shared with her about my slight annoyance with K1, she would have went straight to K1 and told her about it. The evidence was simply too easy to catch as I had emailed K1 sometime later about the bill going dutch and her reply on how to pay her back was pretty evident that she didn't even wanna meet me and her latest FB note indicated something else too.

I may be quiet but that does not mean that I am not observant at all lor....

And of course, S came to IM me one day late evening in April that she wanted to clarify/clear things up but I was still at work and told her that we do the discussion on another day. However, I did not bring up the topic with her till date. Furthermore, S was pregnant and due soon. I did not wanna bother her with such trival stuff.

Well, here's the story~ So glad that it's off my chest now and I am glad to say that I am moving on slowly.

I am also slowly making changes to my life now! Hopefully, all will go well from now onwards. (^_^)

Oh hey, did i mention that I am going for the Shape Run 2009? *chuckles~*

Was doing some walk ard in Raffles City where I came upon an interesting read in MPH store. I found this book: Perfect Phrases for Dealing with Difficult Situations at Work by Susan F. Benjamin.

Browsing through, I found it to be very useful. From day to day basis, we tend to overlook ppl's reaction and feelings when we speak our mind. I find the suggestions to be very useful. Thus, I bought the book.

If provided to be of extreme usefulness to me, I intend to purchase the other books in this series:

- Perfect Phrases for Executive Presentations
- Perfect Phrases for Customer Service

Mum's Day Off...

On Mum's day off today, we headed off to Braddell to have our favourite food - Yong Tau Foo! Yummy~

After that, we headed over to my first aunt's house to play with my adorable nieces. Here are shots that I took:

Later in the evening, I had dinner with my mum at Tepanyaki Express, Tampines Mall. And of course being the piggy me nowadays, I bought a crepe with banana, fresh cream and chocolate sauce filling as my desert immediately thereafter. Yummy~

Oh my god, I'm way eating too much! I need to cut down!

OH yah, me and my mum helped out ourselves by dying each other's hair! So now, my hair is dyed dark red! Hahaha~ (^-^)

Today's craving was to be at the airport.

Do you know what is it?? It's Popeyes Chicken!!

Met my mum there to satisfy my craving today and I had:~

Two chicken parts & the salty biscuit. While compared to the KFC that is abound in almost every neighbourhood, I prefer their crispy chicken here in Popeyes as I dun find the crunchy parts as starchy as KFC's cripsy parts. If I were to order KFC, I would only accept original parts. Very picky of me hor~ =p Oh, the salty biscuit is also very nice but this time round, they did not provide the strawberry jam to go with it. Wat a pity!?! If not, it would have been awesome.

Cajun fries. Not much comments about it but it was crunchy all over with some additional spices in the batter.

Mashed potato. Ooooo~ I loved the mashed potato here coz they added additional spices to the brown sauce which gives the overall taste that extra punch!!

Coleslaw. the cabbage in the coleslaw was kinda roughly cut and I didn't kinda liked the overall taste but I ordered it becoz my mum likes coleslaw. (^-^)

Afterwhich, my mum & I had a short walkabout in Terminal 3 to walk out the carbos that we had juz digested.

Pigging out~

Woke up early in the mornng to go Tanjong Pagar to have my favourite food since childhood - Nasi Lemak. I have been eating from this stall since young and I still love it to date, considering how reasonable the price was.

Here's my mum queueing up for the food:~

And this is what I get for a $3 portion. A lot of dishes rite? LOL~

And of course before I left Tanjong Pagar, how could I never missed buying muffins from my favourite stall - Chocolat N Spice. Out of the 15 flavours that they offered, I oni bought 3 of my utmost favourite flavours - Double Chocolate, Cheese and Bannana & Walnut. Yummy~ Thses muffins can last up to 48 hrs but yet staying crispy on the outside and soft and moist inside. Kekekeke~

Of course, I had one of these for tea time plus ang koo kueh that Mum bought from the famous shop in Outram Park the previous day before. The shop sells ard 8 flavours, of which peanut always stay my favourite. You might be interested to know that they actually also offered flavours such as durian, coconut and yam etc. And best of all, each ang koo kueh is oni sold for $0.60 each.

And not knowing why but my mouth seems to be extremely itchy today, hence I also ate bread with sandwhich fillings (egg & tuna) that I did previously.

And thus this is why I titled this blog "Pigging out" coz I've been eating non-stop. Oh god, stop me!!I will never be able to slim down looking at the rate that we're going.

Of course to end off healthily, had a plate of fruits of apples, strawberries & dragonfruit! Oh oh, did I mentioned that my dog loves to eat strawberries & dragonfruit! He seems to adore them.

My dog has a favourite activity and that is to disurb both me & my mum if we were to be washing our clothes. He would purposely go and grab his ball and drop it into the toilet floor and see what we would do with it. Haiz~

Braddell Yong Tau Foo

Woke up early Sunday morning ard 9am to a throat with a burning sensation. I had juz dreamt that my gastric juices were rushing back up my throat and woila, I woke up instanteously despite having slept at ard 4am early morning.

As my mum has yet to go off to work, I suggested to her that we head to our favourite places for brunch! And off we headed over to one of our top ten favourite - Yong Tau Foo @ Blk 116, Toa Payoh Lorong 1. This place is forever crowded & you need to have patience to wait for the stall helpers to cook and prepare your food. To us, the wait is worth it!

晚餐 - 臺灣咖喱飯配雞扒

Didn't know what to eat, so I simply went with whatever catches my eye. In the end, I settled for this lunch bento box - Taiwanese Curry Rice with Chicken Chop from Ximen Taiwanese Snack Stall in Tampines Mall, Basement One.

The curry was nicely spicy with tinginess of sweetness with potato, carrots and onions. The chicken chop was juicy with a chewy fritter coat. Yummy!

An eventful week~

The week started with a series ups and down of emos, as if I was on a roller coaster ride but eventually, the ride came to a standstill and my feelings cease to feel any longer. I dun know what happened but the series of events that occurred really push my emos to the limit, I guess. Nonetheless, the fact that she came to know all about it quite cushioned the backfire of everything.

The week started off excitingly as I was offered the opportunity to explore new grounds but a series of actions by a 3rd party changed all this and it eventually withered to ashes yesterday evening. This coupled with discoveries on certain aspects of my life totally got me numbed.

I know that I have been lacking in self-confidence for a period of time and thereforth; I didn’t dare to make decisions on my accord for fear that I make the wrong choices again. Thus, I had gone round seeking opinions for factoring in my decision-making process. What I did not expect was the whirlwind of stuff that I had received/heard that changed the viewpoint countless times and had me doubting myself over & over again~

Should friends seek advice or opinion from me, it has always been my belief that I analyze the situation and thereafter list out the pros & cons that I see in the matter. After which, I make it a point to voice out my disclaimer that I only provide my viewpoint on the matter and it’s entirely up to the person to make the decision as they have to bear the consequences themselves but nonetheless as a friend, I will always be there to support them regardless of the decision made. Period~

Luckily for me, my best friend share the same sentiments and undoubtedly, I am grateful to her for being there for me all this while despite her busy study schedule in NIE. There were also a couple of friends who has been there for me when I needed it and you know who you are, so I shalln’t mention names here. Thanks to all who have been supportive and such~

In the midst of stuff I came to know about, there was also this other part where commentary sessions on my life behind my back came to light too. No doubt the calendar of unfortunate events has changed me (be it emotionally and so far) but it is I who knows all the details down to the smallest atom, k? How I make the call in my life is my own call and I never blame anyone for it except for myself. I am perfectly fine if you’re worried about me and was sharing with our common friends for support and thus forth or state/comment about stuff on me coz you didn't like about it. Every one of us has our strength that we excel in & weakness that we lack in that made us unique individually and of course, you’re entitled to like or dislike me in ways or so.

But the fact of the matter whether I have a lot of influential friends in my life or will succeed in life a not does not concern you much unless you believe it to be of much usage to you. I believe in sorting out stuff on my own! Get the point?

My only deepest regret is that I tend to trust people too easily to open up my heart and share most of my life as an open book becoz I really wanted to be friends but unfortunately, this has backfired on me and allow people to hurt me (be it direct or indirect). So I shall make this one resolution for Year 2009 that I shall learn to be discret and make the correct judegements/calls on people around me. Period~

As the week has yet to end, I wonder what lies ahead of me....

New Shoe Bought~

Had a company lunch outing @ Jack's Place, Anchorpoint today. The food was as usual acceptable and most of us had ordered the executive set lunch and soup upgrades to our personal choice =p

Thereafter when the bosses/supervisors went off first, we had a mini shopping time and the girls wanted to browse around in Charles & Keith. Hahaha~

The girls were not able to get what they want as their shoe sizes were already sold out being that those were popular sizes in Singapore. As for me, I managed to get a pair of court shoes at an irresistible price of $12.90! Ha, the outlet @ Charles & Keith was something like a factory outlet whee shoes are sold at irresistible prices to clear stocks! I wanna go back there again when I got the extra monies!

今夜我購買小北飯盒作爲我的晚餐。飯盒裏有豆乳雞翅，鹽酥雞，炸四季豆，炸香菇配飯。配料裏還灑上麻辣粉和超辣粉為調味料！超好吃！！

Home Cooked Mee Hoon Kueh

Dinner was simple this evening, with mum cooking the family favourite - Mee Hoon Kueh. This has been a dish that I adored since young. I always remembered when I was much younger, my aunts would all gather round the stove to roll out and pinch out the dough into small flat pieces into the soup stock to cook. Then added with simple ingredients such as spinach, bean sprouts, fish ball etc & some nice hot chilli sauce, it becomes Mee Hoon Kueh for us!

Now we improvised to have both the dry & soup version to chose from!

I was tagged on facebook to write out 25 random things about myself, so I thought of posting out the same thing here juz for your reading pleasure.

1. I seriously didn’t know what 25 random things to type about ;p

2. I absolutely loved reading! Be it comic books, Chinese novels, English novels – I adore it! I have two cupboards full of such books coz I like to read them over & over again~

3. I loved jackets! I have like more than 20 over jackets in my wardrobe!

4. I am in love with a certain clothing label. Buying them makes my eyes sparkles! I have friends who tell me that I can be very depressed while out with them but should I enter this specific label’s stores, my eyes sparkles like nothing and buying them totally lifts my mood up!!

5. I loved to cook and bake! I initially started baking in my secondary school days with a group of wonderful classmates. I enjoyed the moment when people who tried my baking praise it and of course, the look on their faces when they savored it. My most personal favorites are cheese cakes, log cakes, chicken pies, cream puffs etc.

6. I have more than 50 sets of necklaces in one of my drawers. There was a period of time that I was so in love with them but thank God that this craze was over, if not I dun think I have any more space to hold anymore necklaces.

7. I love taking photos a lot, especially candid shots!! I think I have a lot of candid shots of my friends in weird poses & facial expressions in my hard disk and I dun like deleting any photos that I take coz I love them as souvenirs! Nothing best to remember the moments other than photos and videos! I always bring my camera and a spare battery everywhere with me and all my friends know it!

8. I can be very lazy. Those close to me knows that whatever I do can be totally dependable on my mood! If I’m in the mood, I can do absolutely anything and everything. If I’m not in the mood, dun even bother me bah. But if you want me to be in the mood, read #4. *chuckles~*

9. Bobbi Brown is my favorite makeup brand coz it’s super natural and light. I only apply on makeup for occasions and events. (^-^)

10. My friends tell me that I am a sucker for romantic stuff which I dun know how true is that coz no one has been romantic to me yet ;p

11. Little rascal is the love of my life! He cheers me up a lot! His innocent expressions/eyes simply melt my heart each time I see him. And best of all, he doesn’t retaliate when I bully him. Ops~

12. I adored Winnie the Pooh while my best friend adores Eyeore. What a match isn’t it?

13. I love to watch serials, especially most HK Cantonese serials and US dramas. My favorite US dramas now are CSI Las Vegas, CSI New York, CSI Miami, Bones, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Night Rider, Leverage, The Seeker, Demons, Dr. Gregory House, and Moonlight etc…

14. I liked events which are well planned, hence most of the time I organize events plus my friends tell me I am super organized and well detailed in such planning. However, I can be very irritable when things dun go as planned and ppl who are wet blankets just like to spoil the mood.

15. I loved to write out my thoughts and feelings in traditional Chinese as I find the characters very beautiful and Chinese language can be very poetic. Dun you agree so?

16. Sometimes, my tongue is faster than my mind. Henceforth, I can be very straightforward and curt w/o knowing it. I might offend people w/o knowing it. So if you are one of those, please accept my sincere apologies here.

17. I have a brother who looks like Tay Ping Hui and most of my relatives think so too! On the first day of CNY 2009, his style totally reminded me of Tay Ping Hui. *chuckles~*

18. I am a food person (Refer to #5). I have friends who tell me that I can describe food very well simply with words and hearing me talk about food makes them drool. Oh guess what, I also like to take photos of food in macro mode. What I like best is to send photos of food to friends who tell me that they are hungry in the middle of the night coz I simply loved to ‘disturb’ them with it. LOL~ *Bad of me…*

19. Nothing beats being in the company of good friends in a cozy environment and good atmosphere!

20. If I go out to club with friends, I would see whether my girl friends can hold their alcohol a not. If they cannot hold their alcohol, then I would drink moderately so that I can be there to help them when they need it coz I believe that girls should be protected. If they can hold their alcohol, then let’s party girls! (^o^)

21. My recent favorite alcoholic drink is lychee martini. And guess what, I found out that the Macau HK café along east coast road serves a drink that tastes exactly the same but without the alcohol kick – Iced Lychee Tea. LOL~

22. I have countless favorite food and what I want to eat is totally dependable on my craving and mood at the moment. And as I am writing down these 25 random things at 2.55am in the morning, I am craving for dim sum (點心) - 蝦餃，燒賣，蘿蔔糕等等。。。。

23. I am easily emotional, thus I am easily touched by a lot of stuff even simple stuffs in life. Sometimes watching sad/touching scenes can have me tearing away within seconds. And if my dog is around when that happens, he will come to me and lick my tears away (even from the corner of my eyes). Isn’t that sweet of him?

24. My temper comes and goes very easily. If I am angry with you today, I tend to forget about everything the next day after I have slept over it. Why brood over things that are of the past, right?

25. I am finally at #25!! Yipee~ To the 25 ppl whom I have tagged on facebook, I wanna know more about you!! (^-^)

Ok, truth to be told~ What happened was that I helped my mum to dye her hair earlier in the evening and while waiting for the color to settle down, my mum had a little fun playing with Jackie. And the little rascal being overly excited, bumped accidentally into my mum's hair thus coloring his eye area a bit... ROFL~

Now from far away if you see Jackie, it looks as if he has a right black eye~ (^o^)

This was a sunday tat was much enjoyed, mainly becoz next day was a public holiday and we dun need to go to work!! (^o^)

It was nice and warm afternoon with the sun rays shining into the bedroom~

I meet Keri in the evening for walk about in Orchard Road and do some catching up over dinner. She did the shopping while I did the window shopping. LOL~

We had dinner at a place that we did not patronise for a long time - Sun with Moon Japanese Restaurant, Wheelock Place. *Yummylicious~*

Hahaha~ A we had not been there for a long time, we decided to try out new dishes this time. Photos as follow:

It was a great meal and a good time catching up with Keri. It was tons of fun as well~

Hahaha~ it' like kinda an annual gathering for all. Cannot be like that!! Next year, I must organise more... It's fun to catch up with one another and take more photos!! See below~

LOL~ I also had a ride in Jeremy's convertible as well. It was windy, speedy as cool.... Plus, I felt a bit the yaya papaya when he drove into the dempsey cluster with his cool car blasting loud music... And all those people there waiting for their car or taxis were looking at us..... OOoooo~ (^o^)

Jeremy, must come more often for our gatherings ah!! I think the gals in our class all wants a turn for a ride in your cool car!! Hohohoho~ (^-^)

Catching up with Kathy

Met up with Kathy this evening and she brought me to try out this place at Lucky Plaza - Ayam Penyet Ria.

Apparently, this place is famous for its deep fried crushed chicken, Ayam Penyet ($6.50). Well, the chicken is very crispy being deep fried however the meat is still moist. Accompanying dishes include rice, deep fried tofu, bean cake, kang kong and a special sambal sauce that goes very well with the chicken. I loved it!

I also had the Bakso Penyet, Deep Fried Beef Balls ($3.50) but ops, I forget to take a photo of it. Was hungry lah~ Anyway, the beef balls are very nice with a chewy texture. Will definitely go back there again.

Afterwhich, we walked around and eventually, ended up at Far East Plaza and tried out this new dessert place - Slice!. SLICE is flavored ice sliced into layers and garnished with various toppings. This is a popular dessert that has existed for 30 years in Taiwan, and is commonly known as 雪片冰 to the locals.

Kathy ordered the 'Hot Chick' dessert - smooth milky texture ice, topped with tantalising chocolate sauce with grounded peantus rained over it ($4.50).

I had the 'Summer Fling!' dessert - smooth milky texture ice, topped with fresh mango cubes, mango puree and a drizzle of condensed milk ($4.50).

It was very nice! The ice was very smooth, light and fluffy. The mango were very fresh and sweet... *Yummylicious~*

Tosto Cafe, Changi Airport - Food Sampling Session

In a single year, more than a million people pass through this one single location. Through here, you set off on a journey to explore the world or you set foot here to visit this little red dot on the world map – Singapore.

Situated in the Arrival Hall of Changi Airport’s latest addition - Terminal 3, you could have noticed this little corner brightly lit with its clear cut design and concept. Meet Tosto~ A café situated in an location where human traffic is at an all-time peak.

On this very evening of 2nd Dec’08, 12 bloggers were invited to this corner to taste what Tosto offers and thereafter shared their reviews on their blogs.

Entering the café, we were greeted warmly by its hospitable staff and of course, our host for the evening - Michael. Throughout the evening, Michael shared with us many stuff, for example:

- How to differentiate between Robusta and Arabica coffee/beans
Robusta tend to be smaller in size and they cannot produce espresso while comparing against Arabica beans.

- How a good espresso should be brewed and looks like
A good cup of espresso should be brewed in 25 seconds and should have 3 parts (heart, body and crème) clearly distinctive. In Tosto, the espresso machines faced the customers so that the customers can view and know that they are being served an excellent cup of espresso.

- Comparison of regular white bread against bread baked with lard
A regular white bread has a spare density in the bread while bread baked with lard has a very compare density.

- How to make bring the taste level of home-made sandwiches to the next level by adding simple herbs like rosemary.
Meat tends to be tasteless by nature and requires the action of heating and marinating to add favor to it. Michael shared with us that if sandwiches were served cold; the next best course of action is to add herbs to the meat to add flavor and taste.

Of course, I did not forget about the food. Here are pictures of the food and my review:

Roast chicken thigh, onion, mozzarella cheese with homemade BBQ sauce

Honey baked ham, pineapple, onion, mozzarella cheese with homemade bascilico sauce

Garlic Fennel Pork Sausage & Cheese Wrap ($6.80)
Italian garlic fennel chipolata with tomato, lettuce & emmental cheese

Mandarin Orange Smoked Duck Wrap ($8.80)
Smoke duck bread with fresh orange slices, lettuce & homemade duck sauce

Croques Madame ($6.80)
Fresh toasted bread with honey baked ham, egg, butter & emmental cheese

Choco Eclairs ($3.30)

Ricotta Cheesecake ($5.20)

Review:
I think both the BBQ chicken piadina and Hawaiian piadina tasted just like pizza but of course with the thin crust replacing the bread. Otherwise, there’s nothing too special about it.

While comparing both wraps against one another, my vote goes strongly for the mandarin orange smoked duck wrap as there was a distinctly uniqueness about it with the critic acid of the orange complimenting the smokiness and slight saltiness of the smoked duck. As for the garlic fennel pork sausage & cheese wrap, I find it quite common. Plus becoz the wraps were in bite-sized, the chewiness and texture of the wrap tends to overcome the taste of its fillings.

As for the croques madame, I think I’m going to be very biased coz all the ingredients used and combined are my favorite!! *Yummylicious~* That’s how I always liked my sandwiches to be…

The desserts (choco éclairs and ricotta cheesecake) were not bad with the sweetness just right. When I bite into the choco éclairs, the chocolate cream burst out of the choux pastry. Oooo~

After all the tasting was done, we had a small sandwich making competition with all bloggers forming into teams of two each and coming up with various team names.

Hahahahaha~ We were all required to decide on the components of the sandwich within 20 minutes from a mystery basket of main ingredients (i.e. roast beef, egg, tuna, ham, bacon & salmon), an assortment of condiments and vegetables and thereafter to prepare 3 sandwich portions within 20 minutes for presentation, food tasting and self-consumption.

It was pretty fun doing all that while racing against time.

And tata, here are the photos of the sandwiches that each team made. Can you guess which one is mine??

Did you guess correctly?? My team was JQ Bond, simple because my initial was J and my partner’s was Q and we bonded a friendship at work…. It’s not becoz of the 007 thingy lah… Or rather to say, mind wasn’t working too well to come up with team names… Hahahhaa~

Congrats to Dashing Divas & Prototype Fish for winning the sandwich competition! They each won vouchers to Tosto and Body Contours. And you know what?!? Their sandwiches will be placed into Tosto’s menu and see if it strikes a chord with its patrons.

So the next time you go down to Changi Airport and is clueless of what to do, you can pop over to Terminal 3 Arrival Hall and have a cuppa coffee and dessert there… They are open 24 hrs from that I heard.

Went down to NTU to look for Lei as I had to retrieve my software – Adobe Premiere Elements from her and she wasn’t able to head downtown to meet me. Oooo~ Boon Lay area is awfully crowded and so is the bus queue. It’s been a long time since I’ve been down to Boon Lay & encountered such crowds.

There at NTU, we headed over to Sakae Sushi to eat and everything there was nett-priced!! Neither GST nor service charge was charged to the bill!! Yipee~

I had quite a mouthful of food and the photos of the food as follow:

Afterwhich, we headed over to her hostel room and she gave me a short tour of her new 'home' for the past few months. I find the environment pretty nice but only thing that was not so comforting with me was the shower area bah. Nonetheless, am still happy for Lei Lei that she was issued a hostel room with air-con facilities.

After crashing her room, I tried to looked for any 'suspicious' items and sad to say, my dear Lei was such a good girl coz I couldn't find anything at all.(^o^) Hahahaha~

Last nite, after meeting the gals for dinner and catch-up, we headed over to Sylvia's house to help shortlist photos for her montage. While browsing through her archives, we came upon the following photos.... (^-^)

I simply cannot resist the urge to post them this morning as memory's keepsake...

Oooo... It was the 2nd log cake that I ever did and I had to make it enough for more than 20 ppl at a Christmas Party in Year 2002. Hmmm~ As more and more photos of my old bakes come back, the itch to bake again is pretty back strong too... I must really get my oven fixed...

Catching up with Pat~

Pat is back from Australia for a short holiday in Singapore before adjourning to China for a further holiday with her parents. Taking in mind that she had little time, we met up this evening for a chat over dinner...

As she will be having Chinese cuisine in China for ard 2 weeks, we opted to have Organic food. The dinner set was pretty ok at a price of $17.90++ and it includes a soup, main course, dessert and a drink.

Soup selection was between mushroom and pumpkin soup. Main course selection was between beef sirloin, pork chop and pan-fried fish. Dessert was cup jelly with fresh cut fruits while the drink was iced lemon tea. I opted for pork chop while Pat selected beef sirloin.

Hahaha~ what we didn't expect was that both of us still had quite an appetite as we later adjourned to the newly opened Taiwanese Bubble Tea Cafe in Century Square Basement 1.

Oooo~ the food and drinks were nice and pretty price resonable. I so wanna go there again and try out the other dishes in the menu. Who's interested mah?? *Quick, hands up!!*

I last met up with Pat earlier this year in March and as usual, we had quite some catching up to do. Nonetheless, it was great to see her again and catch up with her =p

Okie, we had another round of tea-time this afternoon and we're having the new foodie in town - Yummy Chiffon...

I remembered to bring down my camera this time round to take photos. *Winks~*

Yipee~ Comfort food.... Boy oh boy~ I really have an itchy mouth for tibits... (^o^)

Catching up with the girls~

Met up with the gals tonite for crab dinner and catch up over old times... But the main priority was of course to discuss the impending wedding of our dear friend, Sylvia and collect the wedding invitation card. (^-^)

It was quite a while since the 4 of us (Keri, Winnie, Sylvia & me) sat down all together and have a nice chat while enjoying and munching on Sylvia's current craving - crabs!!!

It was excellent! The black pepper crab was well-flavoured and fresh, however the chilli crab felt short of expectations as it was not spicy enough... And best of all, we're enjoying the weekday promotion of $23 per crab or $40 for 2 crabs (provided that they are cooked in the same style). It was money well spent! (^o^)

The rest of the dishes like cereal prawns, sambal kang kong and satay were also satisfactory! Hehehe~ All in all, each one of us paid ard $21 for the entire dinner..

Afterwhich, we adjourned to Sylvia's house to have a further chat and assist her to select songs for the march-in and for the video montage...

*Phew~* Weddings are always a lot of work...

Am definitely looking forward to her wedding @ Goodwood Park Hotel...

Recently, there have been little food outlets sprouting up around the premises of Alexandra Technopark. The latest addition is this small little cafe at Blk A, Ground Flr, Lobby 1 next to the DBS ATM.

Wooden tables painted in green with cute stools lined the area outside the cafe~ In the cafe, you will see rows of chiffon cakes in different flavours with cost beginning from $1.60 onwards.

Today, I tried the Chocolate Cheese Chiffon Cake and it was nice!!! I wanna try the other flavours next time!! Am eyeing the Chocolate Banana and Oreo flavours.

Kekekeke~ Greedy me....

*Will I put back the weight I've lost within the past one year?? (^o^) Oh no, I dun want that to happened since colleagues and friends around me have commented that I have slimmed down. I even went to retrieve the 2007 photos of me to compare wor~*

蝦餃，燒賣，蘿蔔糕，芋餃，小籠包，鍋貼，腸粉，糯米雞，叉燒酥，蛋撻，春卷，腐皮卷，芋頭糕，皮蛋瘦肉粥，豆腐花，紙包雞和各種包子例如叉燒包，芋蓉包。。。。

只是想想都會流口水喔。。。。

但是，在新加坡吃點心好貴喔。。。。我已經許久沒吃好吃的點心喔。。。

真是傷心喔。。。

有哪位好心人願意請我吃一餐呢？？哈哈。。。

Seafood Dinner Treat!

Ooooo~ someone strike 4D and treated us to a seafood dinner since my folks adored eating crabs... (^-^)

At Dad's recommendation, we went to Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 where we had 3 places to chose from. Ultimatley, the call was made by the good 'Samaritan' to try out the Mellben Seafood Restaurant.

Despite the queuing line was long, we managed to get a table soon and dishes served shortly after. As I had read numerous reviews/blogs on this place, my expectation bars on this place was undoubtedly raised.

Haiz~ I think as food places get more and more famous, the standards dropped. Initially, the Sambal Kang Kong met the expectations as it was fried well and the spicy level was high. However as the other dishes were served, shaking the head was un-evadable.

Dishes were served luke-warm and turned cold within moments, especially for the claypot sea cucumber. The black pepper crab was not well fried as the crab meat was bland. Furthermore, both black peper crab and the butter crab were not fresh as the crab meat was sticking to the crab shell and it was hard to remove the crab meat. As for the sweet and sour pork, it was over-fried and hard to bite into.

Haiz~ I think you all should know what I mean.. I dun wanna write any further on the other dishes liao....

Next time, we're sticking to Jumbo Seafood Restaurant!! (^o^)

It was a simple affair with food catering from Neo Garden and sushi as appetizer from Sakae Sushi. And of course, photo-taking sessions with the colleagues as well...

Jasper's Birthday...

After a hectic & bad day at work, I rushed down to my aunt's house to celebrate my younger's cousin - Jasper's birthday. He's in Primary 5 right now and being a extreme hyperactive kid, he was bouncing up & down throughout the evening firing questions at everyone. I nearly couldn't answer all his questions. Gosh, what are kids learning and reading nowadays?? *Shudders at the thought of it~*

The place was pretty not bad. Dun mind heading back again one of these days to chill out... (^-^) Of course, considering we paid $14.50 per person for 6 alcoholic drinks and one light snacks....

I dun know why but little rascal was exceptionally 'sticky' with me today. But undoubtedly, it pretty much warmed up my heart & my feelings. (^-^)

I was really caught by surprise when I got it. Even if the cap was closed tightly, you can still smell the tea. And when you opened it up, the smell filled up the entire room!!

I first got the first whiff of it when the manager brought a cup of it into the meeting room a few months back. Attracted by the smell of it, I simply had to ask wat was the brand & flavour. To my surprise, the tea flavour was 'Lucky Yo u'! How interesting... He told me that he had gotten it at the airport.... Ok, my thoughts were that since it's pretty close to my home, I would go get it when I am free.

Hahahaha~ but I completely forgotten about it until today! He came to my desk and presented me with a can of this tea flavour.Wohooo~

U know what's the other big surprise? I went to check out the tea brand's website (http://www.twgtea.com/) and noted that the company's positioning was very up-market. And when I did some goggling online, it was reported in the news that a kilo of the top brand of their yellow leaves would cost from a range from $800 to $3,000. (*o*)

Althought I simply have no idea how much my can of tea leaves will cost, but I dun think that I will ever ask bah =p

Am going to sit back and enjoy this tea liao~

Dinner was a simple affair today as I did Pasta with Tomato Sauce topped with Tuna in Alio Olio Style. Being a bit adventurous today...(*,*)

How can there be no cheese to go with pasta? But I have no mozerella cheese in my fridge, so I have to make do with cheese slice. It melted wonderously....
